Imprisonment and torture of Chief Ralph Uwazurike
(Update received from the Biafra Foundation)
It is with the deepest sorrow and outrage that we bring this urgent message to the world.
President Obasanjo and the federal government of Nigeria is torturing Chief Ralph Uwazurike the leader of the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra
(MASSOB). The Nigerian government arrested Chief Uwazurike for demanding the establishment of an independent state of Biafra and has kept him in solitary prison confinement for more than one year. Having failed to dissuade him from continuing to demand for the establishment of Biafra the government has resorted to torture to force him to abandon his demand for Biafra or quietly kill him without the world knowing about it.
We are appealing to the Secretary General of the United Nations, all Heads of State and government, human rights organizations, religious leaders, and men and women of conscience all over the world to prevail on President Obasanjo of Nigeria to stop torturing Chief Ralph Uwazurike. Please call President Obasanjo of Nigeria and ask him to release Chief Uwazurike since he committed no crime. Please call. This is very urgent.
Signed
Board of Directors
Biafra Foundation.
